প্রেক্ষাপট:
বর্তমান এই আধুনিক যুগে এসেও আমাদের সমাজের অনেক মানুষই কন্যা শিশুদের প্রতি হয় অবহেলিত। তাদের প্রকৃত সম্মানও মেলে না অনেক ক্ষেত্রে। তবে সকল অবহেলাকে জয় করে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছেন আমাদের সমাজের হাজার হাজার নারী নক্ষত্র। তাদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা ও সম্মান রেখে লেখা এই কবিতা। সকল ধর্মেই নারী শক্তির জয়জয়কার থাকা সত্ত্বেও দেখা যায় আমাদের এই নারী সমাজকেই নানান ভাবে নানান অপরাধ ও অত্যাচারের শিকার হয় নারী। তবুও তাদের দমিয়ে রাখা সম্ভব না সেটা প্রমান করে দিচ্ছেন তারাই। তাদের প্রতি সম্মান প্রদর্শনেই “কন্যা শিশু” শিরনামের এই কবিতা। আন্তর্জাতিক ভাবে ১১ই অক্টোবর কন্যা শিশু দিবস উদযাপন করা হয়ে থাকে। ২০১২ সালে জাতিসংঘ আন্তর্জাতিক ভাবে কন্যা শিশু দিবস হিসেবে ঘোষনা করে। এর পর থেকে প্রতি বছর ১১ই অক্টোবর আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে এই দিবস উদযাপন করে আসছে বিশ্ববাসী। লিঙ্গ বৈষম্য দূর করাই এই দিবসের মূল কারণ। পৃথিবীতে নারীদের এবং শিশুদের অধিকার হিসেবে সচেতন করতেই আন্তর্জাতিক কন্যা শিশু দিবস উদযাপন করা হয়।
কন্যা শিশু
একটি শিশুর জন্ম হলে
সবার আগে প্রশ্ন—-
ছেলে নাকি মেয়ে হল?
মেয়ে হলেই কষ্ট।
প্রথম মানব আদম ছিলেন
সঙ্গে ছিলেন ‘হাওয়া’,
তখন থেকে শুরু হল
বিশ্বে চাওয়া পাওয়া।
ইসলামে যে দীক্ষা নিলেন
প্রথম তিনি নারী,
দুর্গা দেবী অশুর নাশেন
দশভূজা নারী।
খ্রিস্ট মতে মাতা মেরী
তিনিও সবার পুজ্য
তবে কেন কন্যা হলে
ভাবো তাকে তুচ্ছ?
আমরা এখন কন্যা বলে
ঠেলি না শুধুই হাড়ি,
লম্বা করে ঘোমটা টেনে
থাকিনা বসে বাড়ি,
বিশ্বটাকে জয় করতেও আমরা এখন পারি।
কন্যা শিশুর জন্ম হলে
মুখ কোরনা ভারী,
সুযোগ, সাহস দিয়েই দেখ
কী না করতে পারি।
